BIOREGIONAL HERBALISM PLANT WALK SERIES
A hands-on outdoor course exploring bioregional herbalism, botanical ecology, plant id, ethical wildcrafting, medicine making, ecological stewardship, & more!
Plants are also integral to reweaving the connection between land and people.
A place becomes a home when it sustains you, when it feeds you in body as well as spirit. To recreate a home, the plants must also return.
-Robin Wall Kimmerer
The medicines of this earth offer more than their medicinal actions: they offer a return to a knowing and kinship with who we truly are.
Herbalism is about much more than using plants medicinally it’s about embodying a deeper connection to nature, ecology, and the plants themselves. The plants are a bridge reweaving people back into relationship with the land. Humans have always been in relationship to the land and the ecology that supports them. It is only in the last few hundred years or so that we have become disconnected from this foundational relationship, severed from our roots.
This in-depth course will explore bioregional herbalism as a way to cultivate deeper relationship with ourselves, the land, our ancestral traditions, and the plants themselves. Bioregional Herbalism is rooted in the practice of working with the medicinal plants growing around you and I believe it to be the most effective and sustainable way to work with medicinal plants.
The medicine we often need most is growing right beneath our feet. After all, such plants are growing, adapting, & learning to thrive in the very environment we are.
The Rocky Mountains of Colorado are full of beauty, medicine, wildlife, and adventure. Despite being a harsher climate these mountains are home to a rich selection of medicinal plants. From the foothills to the high mountains and subalpine there is a wide range of medicinal wildflowers, trees, shrubs, and lichens.
We will spend our days in herb gardens, forests, and mountain meadows cultivating relationship with the flora of this land.
